Our Mission
CareRank Australia exists to help families make informed decisions when choosing aged care for a loved one. We believe every Australian deserves access to clear, independent ratings of residential aged care facilities — without needing to piece together information from dozens of government sources.
Finding the right aged care home is one of the most important and emotional decisions a family faces. Our goal is to make that process easier by bringing together the data that matters most, presented in a way that is clear, comparable, and free.
What We Do
We aggregate publicly available data from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW), My Aged Care, and the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission to build comprehensive facility profiles. Each facility is scored across five key dimensions:
- Residents' Experience — based on consumer experience surveys and quality of life scores
- Compliance & Safety — compliance rating, sanctions history, and regulatory actions
- Staffing Quality — staffing levels, registered nurse minutes, allied health, and workforce stability
- Quality Measures — clinical quality indicators including falls, pressure injuries, and hospitalisations
- Value Score — quality of care relative to accommodation pricing (RAD)
These scores are combined into a single CareRank Score out of 100, giving you a clear way to compare facilities side by side.
